Honda brings first-generation NSX parts back into production
Honda has launched a new Heritage Parts program that puts components for classic models back into production. The first car in the program is the first-generation NSX, with parts due to go on sale in the United States this summer.
The catalog will cover two types of components. The first are fully original parts, recreated using the same technologies and materials. The second are modern equivalents, newly developed to replace items that are no longer in production. The program covers key areas of the car, from the engine and suspension to electronics and the cabin.
The project has been made possible through work with suppliers and new manufacturing technologies. Honda is effectively rebuilding a supply chain for cars that are now more than 20 years old. The model list is expected to grow over time, including other Honda and Acura sports cars.
In parallel, the brand is also developing full vehicle restoration. A restoration service has already started in Japan, allowing classic models to be returned to factory condition. It is not limited to repairs, but covers full restoration using original components.
