A box that drives itself: Stellantis bets on the last mile
Stellantis Pro One teases a driverless, zero-emission delivery module for IAA Hannover and lays out a product offensive: 11 new vans and pickups by 2030.
Stellantis Pro One is preparing an unusual concept for IAA Hannover. The company describes it as an autonomous «box on wheels» — a zero-emission transport module built for last-mile delivery.
The teaser shows an angular body, wheels pushed to the corners and a platform architecture. Details are still scarce, but the idea is clear: not a pretty van for marketing shots, but a working tool meant to cut operators’ costs. Full autonomy promises to strip away part of the driver expense, while zero emissions — easier access to restricted urban zones.
In parallel, Stellantis Pro One has announced 11 new models by 2030. The plan covers next-generation mid-size and large vans with electric, hybrid and ICE versions. Particular emphasis goes to hybrids, payload, cargo volume and conversion readiness.
The United States will get new pickups, including the Dakota and Ram Rampage, while South America will see refreshed Fiat Strada and Fiat Toro. Also on the roadmap: an updated small van, a major renewal of the global compact van and two new electric variants with LFP and NMC batteries.
The ambition is bold: global leadership in commercial vehicles by 2030 and a 30% sales jump to roughly 2.15 million units per year. Stellantis clearly wants to turn the van from a dull workhorse into a technological weapon for business.
