At the Chengdu Auto Show, Mazda displayed the electric EZ-6 — a large rear-wheel-drive liftback that has effectively become the brand’s answer to a big passenger car in its new Chinese lineup. A SPEEDME.RU correspondent examined the car on the stand and photographed the specifications of the show unit.

The Mazda EZ-6 measures 4,921 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,485 mm in height, with a 2,895 mm wheelbase. In other words, the car is noticeably larger than the usual compact electric vehicles and is aimed at the large family car segment.

The electric version shown in Chengdu features a single motor on the rear axle. Peak output is 190 kW, or about 258 hp, with 320 Nm of torque. The traction battery has a capacity of 68.8 kWh, and the claimed CLTC-cycle range reaches 600 km.

The cabin bears little resemblance to Mazda’s classic models of previous generations. A digital instrument cluster sits ahead of the driver, with a large horizontal infotainment display at the center. The center console is tall, with two cupholders and a large armrest. The photos also show frameless doors and brown interior trim.

On the show stand, the Mazda EZ-6 is listed with a price range of 139,800 to 179,800 yuan — roughly $19,500 to $25,100, excluding shipping, customs clearance and other costs of importing the car.

For Mazda, this model is particularly telling: instead of yet another crossover, the company offers a low five-door electric car with rear-wheel drive and a wheelbase of nearly three meters. Against the backdrop of SUV dominance, that format alone makes the EZ-6 one of the more unusual models on the brand’s Chinese stand.
