Mercedes-Benz has lowered the entry price of the electric VLE in Germany by €7,160. Back in July, the five-seat VLE 300 started at €77,896, but from September 8 the base version starts at €70,735. That is a 9.2% difference, although this is not a conventional price cut: Mercedes has made some equipment that was previously standard optional. German prices include VAT but exclude delivery.

Buyers can now skip AIRMATIC air suspension in favor of the standard comfort suspension and decide separately whether they need AC charging at up to 11 kW. In other words, the new starting price reflects a simpler configuration rather than a discount on the previous car. The six-seat VLE 300 starts at €71,188.

VLE 400 4MATIC: 422 hp and 654 km WLTP

The VLE 400 4MATIC is now available to order as well. Its two electric motors produce a combined 310 kW, or about 422 hp, while the battery has 115 kWh of usable capacity and the maximum claimed range reaches 654 km WLTP. The large electric van accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and can tow up to 2.5 tonnes. The five-seat version costs €78,452, while the six-seat model starts at €78,909.

All-wheel drive adds about €7,717 over the base five-seat VLE 300. For that premium, buyers get not only a second electric motor but also stronger traction capability. Mercedes positions the 4MATIC version for difficult road and weather conditions, travel and professional shuttle use.

How the VLE reached the all-wheel-drive version

Technically, the current launch completes the rollout Mercedes outlined in spring. The front-wheel-drive VLE 300 arrived first, while the 400 4MATIC remained the promised range-topping version. In June, the VLE's technical details and plans for other markets were disclosed, and in August Chinese certification confirmed a separate local version with output of up to 305 kW. The European VLE 400 4MATIC now has an official price and is genuinely available to order.
