Renault Trafic E-Tech 2026: range, charging and specifications

Renault has updated the Trafic Van E-Tech: the 81 kWh version now targets more than 470 km WLTP, faster charging and up to 1.3 tonnes of payload.

Renault has raised the claimed figures for the new Trafic Van E-Tech ahead of its European market launch. The version with an 81 kWh battery is now rated at more than 470 km WLTP — around 20 km above the initial 2025 target. Homologation is not yet complete. In the urban cycle, the manufacturer claims almost 690 km.

The fast-charging figures have changed as well. Thanks to the 800-volt architecture, up to 280 km of range can be recovered in 20 minutes, compared with the previous 260 km. Renault estimates the new electric van’s total cost of ownership to be up to 10% lower than that of a comparable diesel Trafic. All the new figures were published in Renault’s official release for IAA Transportation 2026.

Its commercial capability remains substantial: the cargo area holds up to 5.8 m³, payload reaches 1.3 tonnes, and towing capacity is 2 tonnes. Body height is 1.89 m, while the turning circle is 10.3 m. The panel van is due to reach the market by the end of 2026, with chassis-cab and crew-van versions following in 2027.

Another major difference is the electronic architecture. The new Trafic is the first Renault Group model and the first European LCV with a centralized SDV architecture: instead of roughly 80 separate electronic control units, it uses two supercomputers running CAR OS based on Android Automotive OS. The system allows remote function updates and uses vehicle data for predictive maintenance.

For comparison, the electric Farizon V7E, which has already been covered in the commercial EV segment, offers up to 329 km WLTP depending on the version, while maximum payload reaches 1338 kg. The Trafic stands out not only for range but also for the speed at which it can restore it. Renault has not disclosed pricing yet, however, so the economics versus rivals cannot be fully assessed.

Back in November 2025, Renault spoke of roughly 450 km WLTP and two battery types — NMC for longer trips and a more affordable LFP pack with close to 350 km. The higher-spec version is now more clearly defined: 81 kWh, more than 470 km and up to 280 km of recovered range in 20 minutes. Pricing and the final WLTP figures are the next key points to watch.
