Tesla is rolling out software version 2026.26.200.11 in China with about 28 changes, including Doubao AI, new traction modes, navigation upgrades and a range estimate that factors in battery aging.

Tesla has started a phased rollout in China of software update 2026.26.200.11 for the Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y. The China-specific package lists about 28 changes, ranging from a new voice AI and navigation features to traction control and safety fixes. It would be inaccurate, however, to treat this list as a global update for every Tesla: feature availability depends on the market, model and hardware.

One of the most useful changes concerns range calculation. The algorithm now takes additional parameters related to gradual traction-battery aging into account to estimate the remaining driving distance more accurately. This is not a new battery-health diagnostic for measuring remaining capacity, but an extra factor in the range forecast.

Another notable change is the addition of three traction-control modes. Alongside the standard Auto setting, there is Slippery Surface for icy or wet roads and Stuck Assist for situations in which the car is bogged down in snow, mud or sand. At the start of each new drive, the system automatically returns to Auto.

The warning logic has changed as well. In compatible cars, the ambient lighting can turn red when the turn signal is on and the system detects an object in the blind spot. While parked, the car can also warn of an approaching object and, if one is detected, will not open the door after the first press of the button. After a short delay, the driver can press the button again to override the warning.

Navigation can now take the driver’s daily habits into account and suggest frequently visited places as destinations. A separate Familiar Routes function can prioritize roads the driver uses regularly. Some of these capabilities had already appeared in earlier 2026.26 releases in other markets, so the current China firmware combines features that are new to local cars with functions introduced previously elsewhere.

The main difference between the Chinese package and global versions is its integration with the local digital ecosystem. In China, Tesla uses ByteDance’s Doubao voice AI, while in the United States the company is developing Grok integration. Local services also include QQ Music, Kugou, NetEase Cloud Music and a Chinese mapping package. Tesla has been localizing its software platform for China for several months, adapting voice services and other digital functions to the country’s ecosystem.

The update also allows already-downloaded software versions to be installed automatically at night while the car is parked and not in use. OTA releases are distributed in stages, and the available feature set can vary by vehicle configuration and region. The figure of 28 changes should therefore be understood as the content of this specific Chinese build, not as a universal list for every Model 3, Model Y, Model S or Model X.

The broader value of such updates is that they can change the characteristics and behavior of vehicles already on the road without a service visit, from the interface to individual control algorithms.
