BMW X1 Luxury Edition 2026: price, equipment and specifications in Japan
BMW has launched the X1 Luxury Edition in Japan with richer standard equipment, mild-hybrid powertrains and prices from 6.79 million yen.
BMW has started sales of the special X1 Luxury Edition in Japan. The petrol sDrive20i is priced at 6.79 million yen, while the diesel all-wheel-drive xDrive20d costs 7.36 million yen. Deliveries begin at the end of September 2026.
The main difference is not new hardware but a richer bundle of premium equipment. Standard features include Black Sapphire paint, 20-inch BMW Individual 869I wheels, Vernasca leather, a panoramic roof, Harman/Kardon audio, a heated steering wheel and M Sport brakes with dark-blue calipers. On the sDrive20i, the Technology Package is also standard, adding a head-up display, an extended cockpit setup and Driving Assistant Professional; on the xDrive20d, this package is already included as standard.
Both versions use a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Combined output is 170 hp and 280 Nm for the petrol sDrive20i and 163 hp and 400 Nm for the diesel xDrive20d. Dimensions are identical at 4500×1845×1625 mm.
The price ladder is particularly revealing. The most affordable X1 sDrive20i Original in Japan currently costs 5.25 million yen. The Luxury Edition is 1.54 million yen more expensive. That is not the pure price of one option package because the specifications differ, but the gap clearly shows how BMW is positioning the new version.
BMW initially plans to build 150 petrol and 400 diesel cars for the Japanese market. The company also said additional production could follow if orders exceed the plan, so describing 550 cars as a hard global production cap would be inaccurate. The series is intended for Japan and is offered with right-hand drive.
