Ferrari Purosangue KATANA and DENIM: design, specs and lottery rules
Ferrari and M-Auto Italia created two unique Purosangue Tailor Made cars for Okayama, drawing on Bizen Osafune swords and local KUROKI denim.
Two Ferrari Purosangue cars, and neither will have an identical twin. KATANA and DENIM debuted in Okayama, Japan, on October 6, each created as a single Tailor Made example. Ferrari Styling Centre and dealer M-Auto Italia developed the project for the dealer’s 25th anniversary, using craft traditions from Okayama Prefecture as the theme.
KATANA is dedicated to the celebrated Bizen Osafune sword-making tradition. Its body uses a Brushed Aluminium finish with a pronounced metallic effect, while the cabin is finished in Tortora. The center sections of the seats use a pattern inspired by a Japanese sword hilt, and the personal dedication plate reproduces the distinctive hamon temper line of a blade.
DENIM focuses on another Okayama specialty: denim production. The body has a horizontal gradient from Blu O.Z Matt on the lower section to Blu Hembery Matt above, while the cabin uses KUROKI denim from the city of Ibara. The fabric maker carries out dyeing, weaving and finishing in-house.
Both cars received additional bespoke details. The side Cavallino Rampante emblems are laser-treated, while the sills feature the signature of Ferrari chief design officer Flavio Manzoni and the characters “刀” for sword and “藍” for indigo.
No technical upgrade was announced for KATANA or DENIM. The regular Purosangue uses a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 producing 725 hp and 716 Nm, reaches 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and can exceed 310 km/h. Ferrari has already sharpened the model with the Handling Speciale configuration, while tuners have gone further: Mansory’s Pugnator raises output to 755 hp and 730 Nm together with major body changes.
The sales process is unusual as well. No public price is stated in the announcement, and the buyer will be chosen after preliminary screening and a lottery. Applications are accepted until October 25, with the draw scheduled for October 31. It is enough to meet one eligibility condition: to have previously used M-Auto’s services, to live in Okayama, or to have a verifiable connection to the prefecture through origin, work, business, culture, sport or another activity. A preliminary check, including credit screening, is required before the draw.
This is therefore not a new series-production Purosangue trim. Ferrari has effectively turned the two cars into collectible objects whose exclusivity comes not only from the one-off production run, but also from the local materials, craft references and restricted pool of potential owners.
