The updated BMW X3 M50 gains 45 PS as standard. In Switzerland, the 5,840-franc Black Package adds style, not engine power.

BMW has given the G45-generation X3 M50 xDrive two upgrades: a stronger six-cylinder engine and a new Black Package. In Switzerland the appearance package costs an extra 5,840 Swiss francs, but the 45 PS increase is not part of that option. Every updated X3 M50 receives the revised engine producing 443 metric horsepower, whether or not the buyer selects the package.

BMW announced the changes on 1 October 2026 and said they would be introduced from December 2026. The 3.0-litre M TwinPower Turbo inline-six with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system now makes 326 kW, equivalent to 443 PS. Compared with the previous 398 PS, output rises by 33 kW or 45 PS. The engine has also been adapted to meet Euro 7 requirements.

The extra power improves acceleration. BMW quotes 0–100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, down from 4.6 seconds. It also publishes a 4.1-second figure using the one-foot rollout method, which excludes the first 30.48 centimetres of movement. These are two ways of measuring the same vehicle, not two engine versions.

The Black Package is reserved for the X3 M50 xDrive and changes its appearance. It includes factory-fitted 22-inch Polygon 1134 M black alloy wheels, glossy black brake calipers with monochrome M badges, special emblems and dark model lettering. BMW is offering wheels of this diameter straight from the factory on the X3 M50 for the first time.

Inside, the package brings extended black Alcantara, Alcantara/Veganza upholstery with blue stitching and carbon-look trim. BMW Individual CraftedClarity glass controls, distinctive headrest detailing and a leather-covered centre section of the M steering wheel complete the treatment. None of these changes alters the powertrain or its output.

BMW Switzerland lists the Black Package at 5,840 francs, strictly as an equipment surcharge. Buyers who skip it do not receive the old 398 PS engine: all revised X3 M50 xDrive models get 443 PS. Package pricing may differ in other markets.

From December 2026, other BMW X3 variants will also receive interior refinements, including revised dashboard trim and additional ambient lighting. The Black Package therefore personalises the M50, while its upgraded engine and improved acceleration are standard on the revised model.
