The legendary Land Rover Defender is changing shape again—this time into a pickup. According to auto magazine 32CARS.RU, European workshops Heritage Custom and Urban Automotive have joined forces to create the first pickup body conversions of the Defender based on the 130, powered by a 419-hp V8.Heritage Custom unveiled its version in late October in the Netherlands, staying true to the studio’s signature approach with a focus on classic lines and refined detailing. Urban Automotive, by contrast, is preparing a more assertive, forward-looking take, slated to premiere in the summer of 2026 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The key transformation is at the rear: the cabin is shortened, and a compact cargo bed replaces the former luggage area. Even so, the pickups keep the Defender’s hallmark silhouette and its instantly recognizable rugged character. The price also makes a statement—about $178,000, nearly three times the base Defender 130. The project reads as more than a styling exercise: it recasts the Defender from a utilitarian off-roader into a piece of collectible luxury, a statement for those who want to stand apart even next to premium crossovers.
