The new BMW iX3 is set to reach the Australian market in mid-2026 in 50 xDrive dual-motor guise, bringing a claimed 805 km of range and 345 kW. Pricing is expected to start around $120,000 before on-road costs. On paper, that mix of long range and strong output should resonate with buyers who value both touring ability and brisk acceleration.

The more attainable BMW iX3 40 will arrive later—specifically in 2027—according to BMW’s head of public relations Alexandra Landers, who relayed the timing to Australian media. The staggered rollout suggests the brand plans to keep the spotlight on the flagship first.

Official technical details for the iX3 40 have not been disclosed. Preliminary information indicates it will use a smaller battery than the 50 xDrive’s 108.5 kWh usable pack and replace the dual-motor setup with a single rear-mounted motor. The single-motor version will also be priced below the all-wheel-drive model. That configuration typically trades some outright shove for efficiency and cost-effectiveness—an approach well suited to everyday commuting and long highway stretches.
