On December 16, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Nissan Motorsports & Customization Co., Ltd. (NMC) announced new initiatives designed to elevate the overall stature of the Nissan brand by moving into additional forms of motorsport and expanding the NISMO vehicle range. The strategy reads as a clear push to put performance front and center where customers can see and feel it.Guided by the idea that the road leads to the track and the track feeds back into the road, Nissan is drawing on the technology and competitive mindset forged in top-tier series such as Super GT and Formula E. The know-how developed in racing is being applied across NISMO road cars. The company will continue in series such as Super Taikyu and intends to branch into new racing formats, a path that underscores how closely the two worlds now intersect.Building on the momentum of the NISMO lineup, Nissan plans to double the number of NISMO offerings available worldwide from five to ten and to broaden their market availability. By 2028, the brand aims to lift annual deliveries from roughly 100,000 to about 150,000 units, while increasing the overseas share from around 40% to approximately 60%. The targets look ambitious yet measured, signaling confidence without overreach. To enhance customer value, the automaker said it will actively explore collaboration with external partners to further expand the NISMO range. Opening the door to partnerships suggests a pragmatic pace to growth, with performance remaining the brief.
