Aion, a brand under the Chinese conglomerate GAC, is continuing its European expansion with the upcoming launch of the new Aion i60 D-SUV. Targeting the midsize electric crossover segment, the model aims to attract buyers by combining range, technology, and competitive pricing.

Measuring 4,685 mm in length with a 2,775 mm wheelbase, the i60 positions itself alongside rivals like the Skoda Enyaq, Renault Scenic, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Tesla Model Y, and Ford Mustang Mach-E.

The fully electric version features a 75 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of up to 650 km under the CLTC cycle, which roughly translates to about 570 km on the WLTP standard. A range-extender variant is also available, where a 1.5-liter petrol engine acts as a generator. In this setup, the electric-only range reaches 210 km, with a total range of up to 1,240 km. The electric motor delivers 180 kW of power, and fast charging allows the battery to go from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes.

For Aion, the i60's European debut could be a strategic move. With competition intensifying in the D-SUV segment, the final price and adaptation to European customer preferences will be crucial factors. This class remains one of the key battlegrounds for market share in the electric vehicle space.
