JD Power has released the results of its EVX 2026 study, which examines electric vehicle owner satisfaction in the United States. The survey included 5,741 owners of 2025-2026 model year BEVs and PHEVs.In the premium BEV segment, the Tesla Model 3 took the lead with a score of 804 out of 1,000 points. The Model Y secured second place with 797 points. The BMW i4 (795) and BMW iX (794) also scored above the segment average of 786 points.In the mass-market segment, the Ford Mustang Mach-E claimed the top spot with 760 points. It was followed by the Hyundai Ioniq 6 (748), Kia EV9 (745), Hyundai Ioniq 5 (743), and Kia EV6 (743). The Ford F-150 Lightning (731) also exceeded the segment average of 727 points.The study found that BEV owner satisfaction has increased compared to last year, even as sales have dipped following the end of federal subsidies. Notably, owners of fully electric models are significantly more satisfied than plug-in hybrid owners. The gap was 114 points in the premium class and 117 points in the mass-market segment.According to JD Power, improvements in battery technology, charging infrastructure, and overall reliability have been key drivers behind the rise in electric vehicle owner satisfaction.
