According to reports, the new B58B30M3 engine could be coming to the European-market BMW M240i xDrive. The switch to this new power unit is reportedly scheduled for April 2027. The new turbocharged 3.0-liter engine is said to produce 394 horsepower, an increase of 8 horsepower over the current output.BMW engineers have likely found a way to boost the power of the B58 engine without breaching the stringent Euro 7 emissions standards. Beyond the 2 Series Coupe and 4 Series Coupe/Convertible, the new X5 will also receive the B58B30M3.Alongside the performance boost for the BMW M240i, a key feature is the retention of the xDrive all-wheel-drive system. This maintains the car's high levels of handling and stability, even in challenging road conditions.As for a rear-wheel-drive M240i variant, its return to European markets is not currently planned. The M Performance 2 Series Coupe without xDrive was discontinued in Europe a couple of years ago.
