Mercedes-Benz is actively preparing a new generation of the E-Class, which for the first time could transition entirely to an electric platform. A prototype has already been spotted during testing, and judging by the details, it appears to be a version with EQ technology.

Electric E-Class Instead of EQE

According to preliminary information, the new E-Class EQ will replace the EQE sedan, which failed to meet the brand's expectations. The model is being developed as a full-fledged electric vehicle and will continue the EQ Technology lineup alongside the upcoming C-Class and GLC.

Prototypes have been undergoing testing for over a year now, indicating the project is at an advanced stage. The design remains concealed for now, and the lighting on test vehicles is temporary.

Potential AMG Version with Extreme Power

A potential AMG version is particularly intriguing. The prototype features distinctive alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, and aerodynamic elements, all pointing to a high-performance variant.

Rumors suggest this E-Class could deliver between 800 and 900 horsepower thanks to the new AMG.EA platform. This would position the model in the electric super-sedan segment, where competition is already heating up.

Mercedes' New Strategy in the EV Segment

The shift of the E-Class to an electric format reflects Mercedes' strategy to accelerate the electrification of its model range. The company has already updated the S-Class and is actively developing the AMG lineup, including electric projects.

However, vehicle weight due to batteries remains a key challenge. Even with high power outputs, new models might not match the perceived dynamism of traditional AMG vehicles with internal combustion engines.

Ultimately, the electric E-Class could become one of Mercedes' most significant new models, blending business-class comfort and extreme performance in a single segment.
