Tesla continues to develop its electric Semi truck and is preparing one of the industry's most ambitious solutions: a fully automated charging system. Company representatives shared this information during a demonstration of an updated version of the model.

Today, the Tesla Semi already supports megawatt charging with a power of up to 1.2 MW, allowing it to replenish approximately 480 km of range in 30 minutes. However, the company aims to go further and eliminate the need for human involvement in the connection process.

Several scenarios are under consideration. One involves automatic cable connection, similar to a "charging robot" concept. Another is wireless charging, where the truck simply drives onto a special platform and begins receiving energy without physical contact. Engineers acknowledge that wireless solutions currently lag behind traditional wired systems in terms of speed.

Nevertheless, for commercial transport that often sits idle at depots, this technology could become a convenient and economically viable solution. Interestingly, Tesla is developing similar solutions for passenger models in parallel, including future autonomous vehicles. In this case, automatic charging becomes a key element of the fully autonomous transport concept.

Against the backdrop of rapid development in automotive and logistics solutions, Tesla is betting on maximum automation—from driving to charging. If Tesla brings automated charging to production level, it will become a serious advantage for commercial transport. In the future, such technologies could fundamentally change the entire electric vehicle infrastructure.
