Chery is preparing to launch its new Lepas brand in Europe, with the compact L4 crossover set to be one of its key models. The vehicle is scheduled to hit the market in 2026, targeting the C-SUV segment with a focus on affordable premium features.

A New Player in the SUV Segment

Lepas will become Chery's fourth brand in Europe, following Omoda, Jaecoo, and EBRO. The L4, measuring about 4.4 meters in length, aims to compete with models like the Volvo EX40, BYD Atto 3, and Hyundai Kona. The main strategy here is to combine technology and modern design with a more accessible price point compared to traditional brands.

The crossover is built on the new LEX architecture, which supports both fully electric and hybrid powertrains. Electric versions will likely feature an 800-volt system, while hybrids will use a 400-volt setup. Inside, the cabin includes a 13.2-inch vertical screen, up to 31 storage compartments, and a suite of 17 driver-assistance systems. Fast wireless charging and eco-friendly materials are also part of the package.

Pricing and Prospects

The Lepas L4 is expected to start below €30,000 in base versions, with electric models potentially offering a range of up to 600 km. This approach could make it a formidable competitor in the segment, especially as interest in Chinese cars continues to grow across Europe.
