Cadillac has officially launched the updated 2026 CT5 sedan in the Japanese market, nearly two years after the model premiered in North America. This move is part of the brand's strategy to strengthen its position in the premium segment across Asia.

The model is available exclusively in a Sport version, which features a refreshed exterior design paired with a modern interior. Inside, drivers will find digital displays and enhanced driver assistance systems that meet Cadillac's current safety standards.

Under the hood, the CT5 retains its proven 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, producing 237 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. A key difference for the Japanese market is the inclusion of all-wheel drive, which improves handling and makes the sedan more versatile.

Vehicles are imported from the United States and offered in left-hand drive configuration, highlighting the model's niche status. The CT5 targets loyal brand customers who prefer classic sports sedans in an era of electrification. Amid the dominance of crossovers and electric vehicles, Cadillac is sticking with a traditional format, betting on a combination of performance, comfort, and recognizable style.

The Cadillac CT5 remains true to the brand's classic values, but its niche is narrowing as the global shift toward electric vehicles continues. Still, for fans of traditional sedans, it remains an appealing option.
