Lucid has announced a recall of 3,627 rear-wheel-drive Air Pure electric sedans in the US market. The campaign affects 2024–2026 model-year vehicles produced between September 2023 and July 2025.The recall addresses a potential issue where the rear-drive half-shafts could detach while driving. According to the manufacturer, the problem stems from irregularities in the tightening and curing process of the adhesive on the bolts. This may have led to damaged fasteners, contamination of components, or the reuse of bolts, all of which heighten the risk of an accident.GKN Automotive supplies the half-shafts, while Bossard provides the bolts. As part of the recall, service centers will inspect the assemblies and replace the fasteners if needed. Owners will be notified by May 22, 2026. Lucid will offer free vehicle towing, a loaner car or travel reimbursement if necessary. This recall includes new 2026 vehicles and aims to address potential safety risks.
