German automaker BMW has announced it will stop delivering its flagship electric crossover, the iX, to the U.S. market. While the company is halting shipments to America, it will continue producing the iX for other markets until the end of the current generation, which runs through 2027.

This decision to end U.S. sales of the iX stems from BMW's shift to new platforms and architecture, known as the Neue Klasse project.

Although the iX series boasted impressive technical specs, stylish design, and numerous innovative features, the car's concept was more about showcasing the brand's technological capabilities than achieving widespread popularity among buyers.

In America, the iX will be replaced by the new compact crossover, the BMW iX3, which will be built on the new electric Neue Klasse platform. This vehicle promises to significantly increase range per charge and offer an improved fast-charging system.

The next electric BMW in the U.S. will be another crossover, the BMW iX5, which will also be part of the new Neue Klasse family of vehicles.
