Renault is expanding its electric lineup with a new version of the Renault 4 E-Tech called Plein Sud. This model features an electric fabric roof that creates a cabriolet-like feel, nodding back to the brand's classic 1960s designs.

Priced from €36,300, the Plein Sud offers a unique blend of compact electric car and open-top body. The design was developed with this roof in mind, so interior space remains largely unaffected. The roof opens via a button or voice command and can be fixed in several positions. With an opening nearly a meter long, it provides a true open-air experience.

Beyond the design, Renault has updated the model's technical features. New safety systems include driver monitoring and automatic braking if the driver becomes unresponsive. The eco-driving assistant has also been improved, analyzing routes to help reduce energy consumption.

Charging receives special attention too: a new battery thermal regulation system significantly cuts charging times in cold weather. For example, at around freezing temperatures, reaching 80% charge now takes about 50 minutes instead of an hour. This shows Renault is betting not just on technology but also on emotion, offering buyers an unusual format. The brand successfully taps into nostalgia while keeping technology front and center.

The Plein Sud isn't just another version—it's an attempt to stand out in a sea of similar electric cars, and Renault seems to have pulled it off.
