BMW is preparing a new-generation 3 Series for 2027. One of the headline upgrades will be the M350 xDrive, powered by a turbocharged inline-six B58B30M3 rated at 420 hp, a clear step up from the outgoing M340i and its 386 hp.

Core versions such as the 318 and 320 will use four-cylinder turbo engines paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The entry-level model delivers 154 hp, while the 320 is rated at 208 hp. Every version uses an additional electric motor to improve efficiency.

The new 3 Series will be offered as a sedan and wagon, with production due to begin in November 2026. Different markets will get different specifications, including all-wheel-drive variants. A hybrid 330e is also scheduled to join the range in 2027. The future of diesel engines, however, remains uncertain under Euro 7 emissions rules.
