Ford has unveiled an extreme new Mustang variant called the Dark Horse SC. With 795 hp and a clear focus on circuit use, it stands as one of the most powerful cars in the model line’s history.

Power and hardware

Under the hood is a hand-built 5.2-litre supercharged V8 assembled in the United States. It produces 795 hp and 894 Nm of torque, just 20 hp shy of the flagship Mustang GTD.

The engine is paired with a seven-speed Tremec dual-clutch transmission engineered to handle heavy loads.

The car was developed with racing use in mind and features revised aerodynamics. A hood with carbon-fibre elements increases downforce, while the cooling system has been adapted for sustained hard running.

The optional Track Pack brings carbon-ceramic brakes, lighter wheels, special Michelin tyres and a weight reduction of about 68 kg.

Price and positioning

The Mustang Dark Horse SC starts at about $103,000, while the version with the track package begins at $139,000. Despite the price, it remains competitive against the Porsche 911 Carrera and Chevrolet Corvette Z06 while offering significantly more power.

The Mustang Dark Horse SC shows that classic muscle cars are still evolving. With nearly 800 hp, track-focused tuning and a relatively accessible price, it stands out as one of the most aggressive offerings in the high-performance sports car segment.
