The Smartest Lexus in the Lineup? Why the Entry-Level NX350h Punches Above Its Price

The Lexus NX remains one of the brand's pillars. According to the Japan Automobile Dealers Association, 18,206 units were sold in Japan between April 2025 and March 2026. Only the LBX outperformed it within the Lexus range, which effectively confirms the NX as the brand's main mainstream SUV. The most affordable version of the lineup is the front-wheel-drive Lexus NX350h. In Japan, it carries a sticker price equivalent to roughly ¥5 million. Set against the range-topping NX450h+ OVERTRAIL at around ¥7 million, the entry-level car doesn't feel like a compromise made for the sake of price.

The NX350h pairs a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. The main draw is fuel economy. On the WLTC cycle, Lexus claims 22.2 km/l, or roughly 4.5 l/100 km. That's the best figure in the entire NX range. CO2 emissions sit at 105 g/km, also the lowest for the model.

The current second-generation NX measures 4,660 mm long, 1,865 mm wide and 1,660–1,675 mm tall, with a 2,690 mm wheelbase. Built on the GA-K platform, the model has been one of the first cars of the new Lexus design and engineering era since 2021.

The cabin follows the Tazuna concept: key controls are arranged so the driver stays focused on the road. After the 2024 update, even the entry-level NX350h gets a 14-inch touchscreen. Standard equipment also includes the Lexus Safety System+ suite, with collision-avoidance assistants and intersection support.

The cheapest NX is interesting not because it's the “entry” car. On the contrary, it showcases what Lexus does best: hybrid tech, low consumption, a calm premium interior and solid equipment without forcing buyers straight into the pricier trims. For many shoppers, this NX350h may turn out to be the most sensible Lexus in the lineup.
