Defect serious, scope minimal: Mercedes recalls S-Class and EQS

Mercedes-Benz has launched a recall campaign for the S-Class and EQS due to a possible windshield bonding defect. Only 9 vehicles worldwide are affected, two of them in Germany — as reported by mbpassion.de.

The campaign covers cars built between 7 and 10 June 2025 inclusive. The list includes the Mercedes-Benz S-Class series 223 in S 450 d 4MATIC, S 450 e, S 500 4MATIC and S 580 e 4MATIC trims, as well as the electric EQS series 297 in EQS 350 and EQS 450 4MATIC versions.

The reason is a possibly faulty bonding of the windshield. In the event of a crash, the defect could increase the risk of injury, so Mercedes will replace the glass entirely. The recall has been registered with Germany’s KBA authority under reference 16485R. Owners of the affected cars will be notified by mail, and the work will be carried out at an authorised dealer. Given the curing time required for the adhesive, the workshop visit may take almost a full day.
