BMW iX3 40 2026: price, range and specs

BMW adds an entry-level iX3 40 in Spain, priced below the petrol X3 20 xDrive despite offering more power and a 637 km WLTP range.

BMW hasn’t cut the price of the iX3 50 xDrive already on sale — instead, it added a more affordable variant, the iX3 40. In Spain, it starts at €63,650, undercutting the petrol X3 20 xDrive, which starts at €65,850, by €2,200.

Yet the electric model is both quicker and more powerful. The single rear motor produces 320 hp and 500 Nm, sprinting the crossover to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The petrol X3 20 xDrive makes 208 hp and needs 7.8 seconds for the same sprint, but it keeps one key advantage — all-wheel drive.

The iX3 40 packs an 82.6 kWh battery. Rated range reaches 637 km WLTP, and peak DC fast-charging power tops out at 300 kW. Under favorable conditions, a 10–80% charge takes 21 minutes. The boot holds 520 to 1,750 liters, plus a 58-liter front trunk.

For €71,850, BMW offers the iX3 50 xDrive with all-wheel drive, up to 805 km of range, and charging up to 400 kW. The base version is €8,200 cheaper but gives up 168 km of rated range.

The more affordable version arrives amid strong demand: BMW’s 2026 iX3 allocation sold out, with waits stretching into 2027.

For buyers who don’t need all-wheel drive, the iX3 40 is the most sensible pick in the lineup: the premium for the 50 xDrive effectively buys a second motor, a bigger battery, and another 168 km between charges.
