2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS: teaser, expected specs, and price

Mercedes-Maybach has revealed the face of the updated GLS for the first time, though technical specifications remain under wraps. The teaser shows the retained vertical grille, the hood emblem, and new LED headlights featuring signature three-pointed star elements. An official premiere is expected before the end of 2026, though the automaker hasn’t confirmed an exact date.

This marks the second mid-cycle update for the X167-generation GLS, in production since 2019. The standard GLS was refreshed this spring, gaining a larger grille with contour lighting, new headlights, the MBUX Superscreen, and the MB.OS operating system.

The Maybach version keeps its own grille with vertical chrome slats instead of the standard GLS design. The main visual change will be new headlights: Mercedes has been rolling out star-shaped lighting graphics across the GLE and GLS family, including the interior, tech, and powertrain refinements on the standard model. Similar elements are expected on the Maybach’s taillights as well.

The powertrain hasn’t been officially confirmed. The current GLS 600 uses a twin-turbo four-liter V8 producing 557 hp, paired with a 48-volt starter-generator. The sprint to 62 mph takes 4.9 seconds, with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission.

In the US, the current Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 starts at $180,000 before taxes, delivery, and import fees. Pricing for the updated version hasn’t been announced yet.

The big question is how deeply Maybach will carry over the standard GLS’s digital overhaul into its cabin. A new three-screen interface seems almost inevitable, but for the flagship version, keeping the four-seat cabin, individual rear seats, and E-Active Body Control suspension matters more. For now, the teaser confirms only the front-end design, so details on power, equipment, and delivery timelines remain preliminary.
