Dacia Sandero Essential price in Spain: TCe 100 replaces the SCe 65

Spain’s cheapest Dacia Sandero has gone up by €1000, but the entry version lost its biggest weakness along with its low price. The Essential trim has dropped the naturally aspirated SCe 65: the base engine is now the three-cylinder TCe 100 turbo paired with a six-speed manual. Dacia’s official configurator lists it at €14,490 before options.

The previous Sandero Essential SCe 65 cost €13,490 and made 67 hp. The new one delivers 100 hp, so the surcharge buys genuine pace rather than cosmetics. The 0-100 km/h time drops from 16.7 to 9.7 seconds, while top speed climbs from 158 to 180 km/h.

Fuel consumption has not suffered. The TCe 100 is rated at 5.3 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of 121 g/km on the WLTP cycle. The discontinued SCe 65 posted 5.5 l/100 km and 123 g/km. Essential equipment stays basic: air conditioning, LED headlights, rear parking sensors, cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.

At the upper end of the family sits the Sandero Stepway Extreme with the ECO-G 120 LPG turbo, which recently returned to the Spanish line-up and starts at €18,220. The €3730 gap to the base hatchback remains, so the TCe 100 does not push the Essential into senior-version territory.

There is an unpleasant catch: the stripped-back Sandero at €13,490 can no longer be ordered. But in this case the price rise is backed by hardware — €1000 buys 33 extra hp and seven seconds off the 0-100 km/h time.
