Chevrolet Corvette C9 2030: Release Date, Engine and Price

The main reason to wait for the Chevrolet Corvette C9 might not be the engine. According to sources, the ninth generation will arrive in the summer of 2029 as a 2030 model, keep the mid-engine layout and get an updated version of the current C8’s architecture.

The base Stingray is expected to keep the naturally aspirated 6.7-liter LS6 V8 with pushrods, rated at 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft (705 Nm). But that engine already debuted on the 2027 Corvette — it powers the Stingray, Grand Sport and the hybrid Grand Sport X.

That means C8 buyers will get the promising V8 roughly three years before the C9 arrives. The new generation is expected to bring a lighter chassis and a reworked cabin and body inspired by the Corvette CX concept. Chevrolet has not disclosed exact specifications yet.

Higher-end trims are expected to get a more advanced hybrid system. Sources suggest a switch from one front electric motor to two, allowing more precise torque distribution between the wheels. A fully electric Corvette, previously linked to the C9, is now projected only for the early 2030s.

Experts estimate the future lineup at $78,000–$220,000, though that is not an official price. Sales have also not been confirmed by the manufacturer. Given that timeline, waiting for the C9 could make sense for the new design, reduced weight and more advanced hybrids — the base V8 will be available long before the generational change.
