AC Cobra GT Coupe 2028: Price, Power Figures and Naturally Aspirated vs Supercharged V8

The base AC Cobra GT Coupe has a pricing problem. The naturally aspirated version with 456 hp starts at £234,300 before tax, or roughly $314,200, while the supercharged coupe with 730 hp is priced at £256,300 — around $345,000.

The premium is £22,000 (about $29,600). That is just 9.4% of the base price, even though output jumps by 274 hp, or roughly 60%. Unless a buyer specifically wants the naturally aspirated response and calmer character, the entry-level version looks like the harder sell.

The first production Cobra with a coupe body is built on an aluminum chassis and gets carbon fiber body panels. The 5.0-liter V8 pairs with a six-speed manual or a ten-speed automatic. The supercharged version produces 820 Nm (605 lb-ft) of torque and sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 3.5 seconds.

The design nods to the racing AC A98, which competed at Le Mans in 1964: the coupe gets a Double Bubble roof and a shortened Kammtail rear. A similar approach to reviving a historic British sports car with a modern V8 was explored recently in the Lola T70 revival.

First deliveries of the AC Cobra GT Coupe are scheduled only for 2028, after initial roadster orders are fulfilled. By then, the naturally aspirated version will still make sense for fans of linear throttle response, but on a power-per-pound basis, the supercharged model already looks like the smarter buy.
