Toyota C-HR GR SPORT 2027: price, hybrid powertrains and what changed

Toyota updates the European C-HR GR SPORT for the 2027 model year with matte Onyx Grey, new wheels and a head-up display, while hybrid outputs remain unchanged.

The Toyota C-HR enters the 2027 model year as the nameplate marks its 10th anniversary. Over that period, 2.1 million cars have been sold worldwide, including more than 1.2 million in Europe. Toyota has updated the GR SPORT for the anniversary, but there is no technical revolution: the powertrains and their outputs are unchanged, while the changes focus on styling, equipment and a simplified range.

What changed on the 2027 Toyota C-HR GR SPORT

The main novelty is a matte Onyx Grey finish combined with a black roof and black rear section. Toyota Europe also lists new matte 20-inch wheels and a head-up display as standard. Local specifications differ, however: in France, the Hybrid 140 gets 19-inch wheels, while the 2.0 Hybrid AWD-i and PHEV versions use 20-inch wheels.

The engines stay the same: 140, 180 and 223 hp

The mechanical package is unchanged. GR SPORT is offered with a 1.8 hybrid rated at 140 hp, a 2.0-litre hybrid with 180 hp and a plug-in hybrid producing 223 hp. The PHEV can travel up to 66 km on WLTP electric power alone, while Toyota quotes an equivalent electric range of about 100 km in urban and suburban driving. Frequency Selective Control dampers and an additional dynamic damper for the front brace are retained.

How much the anniversary C-HR GR SPORT costs in France

The French price list for the anniversary GR SPORT Mat Edition is indicative of the positioning: from €47,450 for the Hybrid 140, €51,750 for the Hybrid AWD-i and €52,400 for the PHEV. The European C-HR range for 2027 now consists of Mid, Mid+, High and GR SPORT, and orders are already open. The European hybrid C-HR should not be confused with the 2027 electric C-HR for the US market, which uses two electric motors, all-wheel drive and a completely different powertrain architecture.

That makes the current update more of a model-year adjustment than a facelift: the body, core powertrains and output figures remain the same. The real changes are more expensive visual personalisation for GR SPORT and a simpler European trim structure.
