Polestar Formula 2030: new design for Polestar 2 in 2027 and Polestar 7 in 2028

Polestar will unveil Formula 2030 in October 2026. The concept will offer the first look at the brand’s new design language, elements of which are expected to carry over to the next Polestar 2 in 2027 and the compact Polestar 7 in 2028.

With less than a year to go before the next Polestar 2 arrives, the brand will first show an intermediate step — the Formula 2030 concept. It will be the first car developed from a clean sheet under chief designer Philipp Römers, and its ideas are expected to influence the future production 2 and 7 models.

According to Autocar, Polestar describes the new approach not as a revolution but as a “bold evolution”. The Formula 2030 teaser points to lower, wider proportions, a stronger sporting stance and the retention of the brand’s signature Dual Blade daytime running lights. The full exterior and technical specification of the concept have not yet been revealed.

The timing is what makes the concept especially important. Polestar officially plans to present an all-new successor to the current Polestar 2 in early 2027. Formula 2030 will therefore appear immediately before the generational change of one of the brand’s key models.

The second production model to continue the new design language will be the Polestar 7, a compact premium SUV scheduled for 2028. It will be built at Volvo Cars’ plant in Košice, Slovakia. Polestar has already confirmed a Volvo Cars technology base, cell-to-body construction and a new generation of in-house electric motors.

That makes Formula 2030 more than a conventional design show car: it should not take long to see how many of its ideas actually reach production. The first checkpoint will be the concept’s full debut in October, followed by the all-new Polestar 2 in early 2027.
