Audi A2 e-tron price, 646 km WLTP range and battery options

€38 200, energy use of 12.8 kWh/100 km and a range of 646 km are the three headline numbers for the new Audi A2 e-tron. But they cannot all be had together in one entry-level car. The full premiere has revealed four power outputs and three battery sizes, while orders in Germany will open on September 10. The first customer cars are due in December.

The key clarification concerns efficiency. Audi’s record figure of 12.8 kWh/100 km WLTP applies to the 140 kW, or 190 hp, version with the optional Efficiency package. That configuration becomes the most efficient series-production Audi in the brand’s history. The drag coefficient is Cd 0.24.

The maximum 646 km WLTP range comes from a different configuration: the 170 kW, or 231 hp, A2 e-tron with the 84 kWh battery. It accepts up to 183 kW DC and charges from 10 to 80% in 29 minutes. The smaller 52 kWh battery tops out at 100 kW and takes 24 minutes, while the 61 kWh pack supports 105 kW and needs 26 minutes.

The full debut therefore answers several questions left open by the preliminary information: earlier figures mentioned about 611 km, an expected €38 200 starting price and only part of the battery lineup. Audi now officially confirms 646 km, three batteries and four power levels, from 125 kW (170 hp) and 350 Nm to 240 kW (326 hp) and 545 Nm.

The comparison with the related Volkswagen ID.3 Neo is revealing. In Germany it starts at €33 995, offers up to 629 km WLTP and matches the Audi’s peak 183 kW charging rate. The Audi therefore costs roughly €4 200 more while adding only 17 km to the maximum range, shifting most of the premium toward equipment, interior quality and premium-brand positioning.

The A2 e-tron is also more practical than its compact dimensions suggest. Cargo capacity ranges from 396 to 1336 litres. V2L is available for powering external devices, while in Germany, Austria and Switzerland V2H can be used with a compatible DC station, allowing the car to act as a home energy storage unit.

In May the A2 e-tron was still undergoing road testing and was being positioned as a future replacement for the A1 and Q2. It is now a production-ready model: the price is confirmed, the homologated maximum range is 646 km, and the next milestone comes on September 10 when orders open in Germany.
