Bentley Shadow Series: 7-car Japan edition based on Continental GT Speed and Bentayga Azure

Just seven cars — that is the total production run of the Bentley Shadow Series for Japan. The collection comprises two Continental GT Speed coupes and five Bentayga Azure SUVs, and they will be available only through the Bentley Tokyo showroom. Cornes Motors did not specify prices in the official announcement.

The special series is defined not by new hardware but by its design treatment. The body receives a satin matte finish that highlights the car’s lines differently depending on the light. The second element is a set of fully black wheels, while the third is a special Shadow logo projection on the ground when a door is opened.

The Shadow Series should not be confused with a new technical version of the Continental GT or Bentayga. The published announcement does not mention a different powertrain, an increase in output or any chassis changes. That sets it apart from Bentley variants whose performance specifications are actually altered.

For example, the current Continental GT Speed produces 782 PS and 1,000 Nm, while the future electric Torcal is expected to surpass it in both output and acceleration — a transition already covered in detail in our article about Bentley’s next flagship electric car. In the Shadow Series, the GT Speed’s existing hardware remains the basis for a design-focused edition.

The allocation is unusual as well: two of the seven cars are Continental GT Speed models, while the remaining five are Bentayga Azure models. Sales of the Japanese series will end once all seven examples have been sold. Cornes Motors’ announcement refers specifically to the Japanese run; it does not announce a separate global Shadow Series.
