Haval Raptor PLUS: price, 449 hp hybrid system and 255 km electric range

GWM has launched two new Haval Raptor PLUS versions in China with a price gap of just 7,000 yuan. The Hi4 255 Ultra costs 177,800 yuan under the trade-in program, while the factory off-road LiHun, or Power Soul Edition, is priced at 184,800 yuan. Their regular list prices are 189,800 and 196,800 yuan respectively.

GWM puts the main focus on the Power Soul Edition. It gets a factory package with round lighting elements, a redesigned front end, a black roof rack, 18-inch wheels and all-terrain tires. Buyers therefore do not need to turn a standard crossover into an off-road version with aftermarket parts.

Both versions use the Hi4 plug-in hybrid system, pairing a 1.5-liter turbo engine with two electric motors. Total output reaches 330 kW, or about 449 hp, and 660 Nm. The 0-100 km/h sprint takes 5.8 seconds. A 44.7 kWh battery provides up to 255 km of electric range on the CLTC cycle, while minimum fuel consumption with a depleted battery is rated at 6.2 l/100 km WLTC.

The cheaper Hi4 255 Ultra is based on the previous Ultra Linghang, which had been offered at a temporary price of 197,800 yuan. The new version costs 177,800 yuan, a reduction of 20,000 yuan. Part of the saving comes from electronics: the full ADC 3.0 hardware set, city and highway NOA and the road-preview damper adaptation function have been removed. A basic L2 assistance suite remains.

LiHun takes the opposite approach and focuses on factory off-road preparation. In addition to all-terrain tires, it includes an electronically controlled mechanical rear differential lock, a crawl mode and a tank-turn function. An advanced driver-assistance package with electronically controlled dampers is available for 12,000 yuan.
