BMW has officially revealed the most powerful version of the new-generation electric iX3. The M60 xDrive produces 612 hp and 875 Nm, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reaches 240 km/h. Its preliminary WLTP range is up to 754 km. Orders will open in late January 2027, with production starting in spring at BMW’s plant in Debrecen, Hungary.
The new iX3 M60 uses two electric motors and all-wheel drive. The key technical change is a more powerful Gen6 electrically excited synchronous motor, or EESM, on the rear axle. BMW developed a new stator and a stronger inverter for it, raising maximum current from 300 to 420 A.
The battery has 108.7 kWh of usable capacity and works with an 800-volt architecture. At a suitable fast charger, DC charging power reaches 400 kW. BMW estimates that 10 minutes can add energy for another 340 km of range. AC charging at up to 22 kW is also standard.
The M60 differs from the regular iX3 by more than output. It gets adaptive M suspension, variable-ratio steering and an electronically controlled M Sport rear differential. The Heart of Joy computer works with M Dynamic Performance Control to coordinate the powertrain and driving systems. BMW says Heart of Joy operates 10 times faster than previous solutions.
The performance version will expand the iX3 family, for which BMW has also announced the 374-hp iX3 40 xDrive. Production of that version is scheduled to begin in February 2027. Compared with the 469-hp iX3 50 xDrive, the M60 adds 143 hp, or about 30.5%. Maximum preliminary range falls from 805 to 754 km.
Visually, the M60 is distinguished by M Yellow Lights, sport mirrors, redesigned bumpers and a rear spoiler. It comes standard with 21-inch wheels, while 22-inch wheels are optional. Inside are standard electrically adjustable M Sport seats with massage, BMW Panoramic iDrive, a 17.9-inch central display and a 13-speaker Harman Kardon system rated at 430 W.
The flagship version continues the expansion of the Neue Klasse range. By mid-September, the new iX3 had already passed 100,000 orders in Europe alone. BMW is now adding a more performance-focused alternative to the long-range versions.
BMW says the quoted specifications are still preliminary. The price of the iX3 M60 xDrive has not been announced. The next key milestones are final certification figures, the opening of orders in late January 2027 and the start of production in spring.
