Omoda & Jaecoo Super Hybrid tested: quiet power, epic range
We test Omoda C7 SHS-P, Jaecoo J5 SHS-H and Omoda C5 SHS-H over 600 km, showing up to 1,192 km range, EV-like quiet and DHT efficiency from the 1.5 TDGI hybrid.

The Omoda and Jaecoo International Summit hosted a Hybrid Marathon that brought together owners from ten countries. As the brand’s press office told SPEEDME.RU, participants covered 600 kilometers across China’s Anhui province, sampling the Omoda C5 SHS-H, Jaecoo J5 SHS-H, and Omoda C7 SHS-P in everything from dense city traffic to winding mountain roads. The trials highlighted the potential of the Super Hybrid System, which blends the punch of a combustion engine with the calm and quiet of an electric car. In separate tests held in the UAE, the Omoda C7 SHS-P showed a driving range of up to 1,192 km, while the Jaecoo J5 SHS-H and Omoda C5 SHS-H reached up to 890 km and 905 km, respectively. Taken together, the numbers suggest machines built to shrug off long distances without fuss.At the core sits a 1.5 TDGI engine with 44.5% efficiency, paired with a DHT transmission and a battery that enables up to 90 km of electric-only running. The system automatically picks the most efficient operating mode to save fuel. Participants also emphasized cabin serenity: up to 60 km/h, the hybrids move like EVs, and the flagship Omoda C7, aided by ENC active noise control, remains composed even at 120 km/h. That emphasis on quiet, seamless progress is exactly what tends to win drivers over in everyday use.
