Genesis has unveiled a new direction called the Magma Performance Line, where luxury meets dynamic poise without sliding into overt aggression. Unlike AMG or BMW M, Magma will not become a separate sub-brand; it is a philosophy designed to give Genesis models a more emotional and balanced character. The first production model will be the GV60 Magma. The decision to favor a philosophy over a badge feels deliberate, suggesting performance that complements the brand rather than overshadowing it.Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke, a key architect of Hyundai Group’s success, described Magma as the lineup’s superhero that fuses the brand’s core values with power and passion. He emphasized that its purpose is to make driving rewarding rather than complicated.Donckerwolke also noted that once behind the wheel of a Magma model, drivers would be surprised by how effortlessly their latent skills reveal themselves—at high speed or through corners. The idea is compelling: engagement without intimidation.Magma’s design draws inspiration from Korea’s volcanic landscapes, expressed in a signature orange body color. The GV60 Magma sits on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N platform, with an expected output of up to 641 hp and 740 Nm of torque. The car has already completed final testing in Sweden, California, and New Zealand. Set to debut in late 2025, the Genesis GV60 Magma is poised to usher in an era where excitement meets refinement, and a sports car no longer feels like an ordeal.
