Vauxhall Corsa GSE 2026 price and specs: how it compares to the Golf GTI and MINI JCW
The 281bhp Vauxhall Corsa GSE starts at £34,495 in the UK — cheaper than the Golf GTI and more powerful than the electric MINI JCW.
The Vauxhall Corsa GSE will launch in the UK priced from £34,495. With the government's Electric Car Grant applied, that figure could drop to £32,995. Autocar reported the pricing on 5 August; Vauxhall's official page does not yet list a price or the claimed 232-mile range.
The technical specification is confirmed by the manufacturer. The electric motor produces 207kW, or 281bhp, and 345Nm, driving the front wheels. 0-62mph takes 5.5 seconds. The chassis features a mechanical Torsen limited-slip differential, lowered suspension, 18-inch wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres and Alcon brakes.
The 232 miles claimed by Autocar work out to roughly 373km on the WLTP cycle. The £32,995 figure is not final: the UK government places the Vauxhall Corsa Electric in Band 2, with a maximum discount of £1500, though the Corsa GSE is not separately listed in the current eligibility list.
The comparison with the Golf GTI holds up on performance: Volkswagen's official figures put the petrol hatchback at 265bhp with a 0-62mph time of 5.9 seconds. The price gap is around £9000, though the GTI's current official price wasn't showing on Volkswagen's site at the time of checking.
The electric MINI John Cooper Works makes for a more telling comparison. It's officially priced from £34,895, produces 258bhp and hits 62mph in 5.9 seconds, with a WLTP range of roughly 364-402km. At the price Autocar reported, the new Corsa comes in £400 cheaper, 23bhp more powerful, and 0.4 seconds quicker.
