Opel is preparing to debut a new sporty version of its hatchback, the Corsa GSE. This model will serve as the spiritual successor to the previous Corsa OPC and will compete with the Peugeot 208 GTI.

The car will feature an electric powertrain with 280 horsepower, already used in other Stellantis models like the Lancia Ypsilon HF and Abarth 600e. It will have front-wheel drive and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under six seconds.

Corsa GSE prototypes are currently undergoing testing, including at the Nürburgring. Despite camouflage, the design appears to remain restrained compared to more flamboyant rivals. Key advantages are expected to include handling, as the base Corsa has already received positive reviews for its chassis setup, and a similar approach is planned for this sporty version.

The Corsa GSE will be part of a new wave of 2026 sports cars with electric powertrains and a focus on dynamics. Its debut is anticipated this summer, after which Opel will officially reveal all specifications and features.
