Spanish marque Santana Motors has officially returned to the market, unveiling its first vehicle in 14 years—the Santana 400 pickup. The model was developed in collaboration with China’s Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile (a Dongfeng–Nissan joint venture) and Anhui Coronet Tech.

The new Santana 400 is based on the Nissan Frontier Pro architecture and will be offered in two versions: the diesel-powered 400D and the 400 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV). The hybrid is claimed to deliver the longest range in its class, with up to 120 km of electric-only driving and more than 1,000 km of combined range. Its powertrain pairs a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor for a total output of 429 hp and 800 Nm of torque.

A 32 kWh battery supports fast charging and enables zero-emissions running in the city as well as on scenic routes. Measuring 5.49 meters in length and nearly 2 meters in height, the pickup features 28 driver-assistance systems, a 14.6-inch infotainment display, and a surround-view camera system—technology that should make a sizable truck easier to thread through tight streets and trailheads alike.

The Santana 400 keeps the brand’s off-road spirit alive: 240 mm of ground clearance, approach and departure angles of 31 and 26 degrees respectively, and a wading depth of up to 800 mm. The cargo bed holds more than 1,100 liters and supports an 800 kg payload, while towing capacity is rated at 3,200 kg. Numbers like these suggest genuine capability rather than mere rugged styling.
