Kia PV7 2026: release date, platform and what we know so far

Kia has revealed the exterior of the new PV7, which will become the second dedicated electric model in the PBV family after the PV5. The newcomer is larger than its predecessor and is aimed primarily at commercial use. The manufacturer has not yet disclosed full dimensions, payload capacity, battery size or driving range.

The PV7 is built on the E-GMP.S platform, developed by Hyundai Motor Group specifically for PBV vehicles. Its modular design allows a single underpinning to be used for vehicles with different body variants — a principle already applied to the PV5, which comes in passenger, cargo and specialized versions.

The teasers show a one-box body with nearly vertical sides, a black hood and pillars, and the signature lighting of the PBV family. But the practical side is more interesting than the design for now: the PV7 is meant to offer more space and business capability than the PV5. Kia hasn’t said which versions will arrive first.

The full world premiere will take place on September 14, 2026, at the press day of IAA Transportation in Hannover. The show will be open to visitors from September 15 to 20. Kia has previously told investors it expects to bring the PV7 to market in 2027, followed by an even larger PV9 in 2029.

So the September premiere should answer the main questions the teaser deliberately left open: how much the PV7 will be able to carry, what battery it will get, and how far it will go on a charge.
