Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the all-electric CLA EV, the brand’s first compact model built on the new MMA platform. In China, the sedan goes on sale in two versions priced from 249,000 to 285,600 yuan. The car features an 800-volt architecture, two motor configurations, and a two-speed transmission.Compared with the European specification, the Chinese version gets a stretched wheelbase of 2,830 mm, freeing up more space inside. The CLA EV delivers up to 200 kW of power, while CLTC range reaches an impressive 866 km. A 165 kW variant will follow later. In terms of design, the newcomer blends Mercedes’ signature cues with modern minimalism: a closed grille filled with a matrix of three-pointed stars, full-width LED lighting, and an optional AMG package. The cabin is centered around a triple-screen setup— a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a 14-inch media display, and a separate screen for the front passenger. It runs the MB.OS system powered by the Qualcomm 8295 chip and supports an AI-based virtual assistant. The top trim adds a panoramic roof, a head-up display, a heated steering wheel, and 64-color ambient lighting. The headline innovation is the integration of Momenta, enabling NOA functions for highway and urban navigation, automated parking, and automatic U-turns. The new CLA EV makes a clear statement: even a compact Mercedes can serve as a premium-grade technology showcase.
