In the United States, Stellantis has announced a new large-scale recall: nearly 113,000 hybrid Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and Wrangler 4xe vehicles from the 2023 to 2025 model years are being called back. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), some engines may contain manufacturing debris that could lead to engine failure or an under-hood fire. The regulator noted that a loss of propulsion while driving increases the risk of a crash, and a fire raises the chance of injuries. Stellantis has not yet disclosed details of the defect or a final repair, saying a remedy is still being developed. This is the second major Jeep recall in recent weeks. Earlier this month, the company recalled 375,000 SUVs over a fire risk and advised owners to park their vehicles outdoors. In the fall, nearly 300,000 vehicles were also recalled due to an issue with unintended rollaway.Despite the setbacks, Stellantis says it is continuing to work with the regulator and notify owners. The campaign touches nearly the entire lineup of Jeep PHEV models, which remain central to the brand in the U.S.Taken together, Stellantis’s latest recalls show that hybrid powertrains are still complex to manufacture and require strict quality control. With Jeep 4xe models in high demand, resolving these defects quickly and transparently will be essential to maintaining customer confidence — and a clear test of how swiftly the company can deliver a clean fix and communicate it well.
