Tesla has reshuffled its European pricing, creating an unusual twist: the Model 3 now costs more than the Model Y. Not long ago both started at €39,990, but the base Model 3 has risen by €2,000 to €41,990.

The change came right after the arrival of the more affordable Model Y Standard built in Berlin. Thanks to local production, the absence of tariffs, and a simplified spec, it keeps the €39,990 price point while offering 534 km WLTP. In practice, that combination makes the crossover look especially sharp on value.

In Europe, the most accessible Model 3 isn’t a stripped-down car but a well-equipped rear‑wheel‑drive version with an LFP battery of roughly 60 kWh. Its range is 520 km WLTP on 19‑inch wheels, or an estimated 554 km on 18‑inch wheels, although the latter figure isn’t officially certified.

The rest of the lineup remains unchanged: the Long Range RWD is priced at €44,990 and offers up to 750 km of range, the all‑wheel‑drive version costs €48,990, and the top Performance is €57,490, though it goes a bit shorter on range due to sportier tuning and 20‑inch wheels.

It’s an unusual strategy for Tesla, but it likely comes down to costs: the locally built Model Y is cheaper to produce and move, which lets it undercut the sedan that is typically the more affordable pick. The price inversion may nudge value‑minded buyers toward the Y, especially with its certified WLTP figure.
