Toyota Roomy 2026 Update: New Smart Assist Features, Equipment and Prices

Toyota didn't wait for a full model change to sharpen the Roomy's safety credentials. From August 31, the Japanese compact van gained an upgraded Smart Assist system across every grade, with the technology now detecting oncoming traffic during right turns and pedestrians crossing the road as the car turns.

The change goes further than a simple color refresh. Front side SRS airbags and curtain airbags for both rows are now standard on the whole lineup. The base X grade additionally gains a driver's armrest, height-adjustable seat, an under-seat tray for the front passenger, and a TFT display in the instrument cluster.

The G and G-T grades can now be ordered with an electric parking brake, Brake Hold, and adaptive cruise control that works across the full speed range — a combination that was previously more tightly reserved for the top-spec Custom trims. Toyota is also offering a 9-inch multimedia unit with HDMI.

The body and powertrain lineup remain unchanged. Toyota has added three new colors and a new Another Style Package for the Custom G and Custom G-T, bringing chrome trim, water-repellent combination upholstery, and additional exterior details.

Prices after the update range from ¥1,830,400 to ¥2,346,300.

The most interesting part of this update isn't the new trim options — it's the fact that Toyota has made the entry-level Roomy safer without a full redesign. The next major milestone for the model will be a full generation change: the current Roomy has been on sale since 2016.
