Dongfeng Nissan has registered a recall campaign under the number S2026M0024V. Starting February 27, 2026, this recall affects 29,608 units of the new-generation Nissan X-Trail produced between December 3, 2020, and May 21, 2024.

According to the regulator, under high loads and prolonged high-speed driving, the cooling system may not provide sufficient heat dissipation. This can lead to increased engine oil temperature, reduced lubricating ability, and a higher risk of bearing wear, which may be accompanied by unusual engine noises.

In extreme cases, prolonged operation with increased wear could potentially cause the crankshaft to seize and the engine to stall while driving, creating a safety risk. To address the issue, the manufacturer will update the engine software free of charge to prevent the system from entering critical temperature ranges.

A diagnostic check of the powertrain will also be performed, and if signs of engine wear are detected, the engine will be replaced at the company's expense. This scenario of oil overheating and bearing wear represents a significant technical risk, especially for a crossover designed for active use.

Importantly, the manufacturer has not only planned a software update but also included the possibility of engine replacement, indicating recognition of the potential seriousness of the defect.
