Fifty U.S. and Canadian journalists on the jury of the North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards (NACTOY) have named 30 semifinalists for 2025.

The field includes 6 passenger cars, 5 pickups, and 19 utility vehicles. The list of finalists will be announced in November, with those finalists set to be presented at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2026. With SUVs taking up 19 of the 30 spots, their dominance is hard to miss.

In the passenger-car category, the jury highlighted the Audi A5, Dodge Charger, Honda Prelude, Kia K4 Hatchback, Mercedes-Benz CLA, and Nissan Sentra—an assortment that blends established badges with fresh metal.

Among pickups, the semifinalists are the Ford F-150 Lobo, Ford Maverick Lobo, Ram 1500 Hemi, Ram 2500, and Rivian R1T Quad Motor, a slate that spans work-ready rigs and tech-forward entrants.

Rounding out the utility vehicle segment are the Acura ADX, Audi Q5, Cadillac Escalade IQ, Cadillac OPTIQ, Cadillac VISTIQ, Ford Expedition, Genesis GV70, Honda Passport, Hyundai Ioniq 9, Hyundai Palisade, Jeep Cherokee, Lucid Gravity, Nissan Leaf, Polestar 4, Subaru Forester Hybrid, Toyota 4Runner, Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Volvo EX30.
