Jetta has opened pre-sales for its first production electric car, the M6, from 80,800 yuan. The top M6 555 Ultra is priced at 99,800 yuan. Three versions are listed: 465 Pro at 80,800 yuan, 555 Max at 90,800 yuan and 555 Ultra at 99,800 yuan.

Price was the key figure missing when the Jetta M6 debuted at the Chengdu motor show in August. At the time, the brand opened early reservations with a 66-yuan deposit that counted as 2,000 yuan toward the purchase, but the full pricing remained undisclosed. The M6 now clearly sits in the budget segment, with even the most expensive version staying below the psychologically important 100,000-yuan mark.

The sedan measures 4,806 mm long and has a 2,820 mm wheelbase. Depending on the version, the front electric motor produces 113 or 145 kW, equivalent to about 154 or 197 hp. CALB batteries provide a claimed CLTC range of 465 or 555 km. Inside, there is a digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch display with 2.5K resolution.

Electronics are another highlight. The M6 uses a Horizon Robotics Journey 6M chip and a camera-based driver-assistance system. Jetta says the model will support navigation-assisted driving on highways and in cities. The exact feature set for each trim may still be adjusted before the official market launch.

For FAW-Volkswagen, this is more than a one-off low-cost EV. The company had already announced Jetta's move into affordable electric cars before the M6 premiere and plans to broaden the brand's electrified line-up. The full market launch is scheduled for mid-October.

For now, the 80,800-99,800 yuan figures remain pre-sale prices. Final retail pricing will be confirmed after the official October launch, when the M6 can be compared more directly with BYD, Geely and Leapmotor models in one of China's most competitive market segments.
